Fairy Tales
All the king's horses stole her voice to give her legs and all the kings men have her innocence but they couldn't jigsaw her into an adult, just a scared little girl with One-Eyed Thompson's gaze on her. Jack sold her beans too young and can't help but think every king's man is after her magic legumes now, yes sir, yes sir, two bags full. Little red riding hood has sleeves of red without her jacket on, but she's safe for now from the night's howling companion with sharp claws. What big cockle shells you have Mary. Better serve the giant your pocket full of rye and poisies. Snow White rats her hair, drags her cigarette and wonders how she'll feed so many mouths with her deadend job. Goldielocks has insomnia and nothing feels right, every bed makes her skin crawl. Her house of straw, bricks or plywood, none feel like home. Just the ballroom her glass slipper shattered on as the hickory clock struck one feels anything like the gingerbread house she baked herself into to feel warmth. Little boy blue blew too hard and frightened her muffet, seven, eight, then laid her straight. Four and twenty blind mice heard her scream as the pale water came tumbling down her back. Her head is sometimes hot, her prince is sometimes cold, down came the rain and washed the three men in a tub, as their monkey chased their weasel. Yes, they know the muffin man, they kissed the girl and made her cry, stuck in their thumb and pulled out, nine days old. This is the London bridge that Jack took the key and locked up, after he jumped the candlestick and played knick knack on my fleece, as white as snow. She called for her pipe and called for her bowl and puffed the magic dragon all the way home. Up above the world so high, life is but a dream. Teddy bear, teddy bear blew out the light, blew the traveler in the dark. Someones in the kitchen with Dinah, cooking up ashes, ashes, all covered in snow. Dinah and Alice used her looking glass, let it snow let it snow, i wish i may, i wish i might, lullaby and goodnight.
